Acid Water

Acid water is caused by water passing through impervious rocks, such as granite, and not dissolving minerals. This leaves water, which is a natural solvent, very aggressive when it gets to the home. This is measured by pH - a pH under 7.0 is considered acid.

  • "ML"-AN - Calcite or Cal-Cor media will raise the pH and stop corrosion attacks on expensive plumbing and water-using appliances.

  • "ML"-TFA - Marlo offers different types of neutralization media to fit your specific needs for pH correction from 4.0 to 7.0 with the media that suits your needs.

  • "AF"-AN - CALCITE or CAL-COR media will raise the pH and stop corrosion attacks on expensive plumbing and water-using appliances.

  • "AFA"-AN - CALCITE or CAL-COR media will raise the pH and stop corrosion attacks on expensive plumbing and water-using appliances.

  • "UF" - Marlo offers different types of neutralizing media to fit your specific needs for pH correction from 4.0 to7.0 with the media that suits your needs.

To help your neutralizer work properly use one of Marlo's neutralization medias:

  • ANF is a finely ground grade of marble or limestone, very high in calcium carbonate, which is used to raise the pH readings of low pH water.

Acidic waters on contact with ANF slowly dissolve the calcium carbonate media to raise the pH which reduces the potential leaching of copper, lead, and other metals found in typical plumbing systems.

Depending on the pH and service flow, the calcite bed will have to be periodically added to as the calcium carbonate is depleted.

As the ANF dissolves and neutralizes the water, it will increase hardness and a softener may be necessary after the neutralizing filter.

  • AN-COR by neutralizing the free carbon dioxide in water, can correct red water conditions and render it to a non-corrosive condition. AN-COR, being a reactive magnesium oxide, is used most effectively where pH correction is substantial or high flow conditions are in use. AN-COR, being soluble to acidity, will have to be replenished periodically. Please note, under certain low flow conditions, AN-COR may overcorrect and create a basic condition.

  • AN-MIX by combining the slower reacting slow flow properties of ANF to the high flow neutralizing properties of AN-COR, Marlo has created a mix that may be used in situations where
overcorrecting and high basic conditions may occur.
